MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards)

MEES regulations require non-domestic and domestic private rented properties to achieve minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings. Non-compliance can result in significant financial penalties.

Technical Details:

From April 2023, all non-domestic rented properties must have an EPC rating of E or above. Properties with F or G ratings cannot be let unless covered by valid exemptions. Domestic MEES applies to private rented properties since April 2020.
